About the Store

The Bunch of Grapes has been an independent bookstore on Martha’s Vineyard for almost 40 years.

On July 4th, 2008, our neighboring restaurant burned down. While our building survived, it suffered severe damage, and we lost our entire inventory.

On October 15th, the store sold to Dawn Braasch, our former events coordinator.

We sold books in a temporary location on Church Street from November 14 through June 6. It was just a tiny space to get us through the winter, but it kept us in books, and we will be forever grateful for it.

On June 13, we reopened in our home on Main Street! Please stop by and see the new digs; we know you’ll love it!

Is the temporary store opened yet? My family is going to be visiting the Vineyard this weekend. Let me know ASAP. Or I will find out when I arrive at the island. Thanks

This store has been a part of my life for five years ever since I walked into the store and was surrounded by my favorite objects…books. I was devastated when I found out what happened. I found out the hard way. My brother and I were in Vineyard Haven and decided to go into the A/C bookstore. When we saw Moxie’s gone (also very good restauraunt), I was heartbroken to find the inside of the belove bookstore in ashes. My brother was sad as well. Thank God that it is being rebuilt. Thank you!

I can’t wait to come to Martha’s Vineyard in July!! My boyfriend is always talking about your store and I want to see for myself how great the store is. I’m glad to hear that the store is finally back in the Main Street location! Good luck!

Hi, I’m a fourteen year old girl who will be turning 15 in august this next summer. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a job this coming summer. I will be on island various times this year if there is an interview required. I would love to get a job this summer especially at a bookstore because I love reading and love books.
